Estancia Despedida Lodge
The Estancia Despedida is a fabulous cattle
and sheep ranch bordering what are, arguably, the finest pools
on the Rio Grande River, and affords a very few guests each
season the finest sea trout fishing in the world. |
The
huge ranch is owned by the Larminat family, and administered by
the talented Argentine outfitter, Danny Lajous.
It is known by local anglers as "el corazon del rio"
(the heart of the river). Despedida is bordered on the downstream
side by Estancia Jose Menendez, upstream by Kau Tapen Lodge, and
is opposite the Estancia Maria Behety on the Rio Grande. Despedida
and the Estancia Maria Behety share their common pools on the
Rio Grande, alternating use daily. Estancia Despedida and Kau
Tapen Lodge alternate use of the Rio Menendez, a small seatrout
fishery which forms the border between the two ranches in the
same fashion.
The Deluxe Estancia Despedida Lodge
Angling guests at Estancia Despedida
will enjoy the superb and spacious new Despedida Lodge situated
in a draw near the banks of the Rio Grande.
There are three deluxe bedroom suites (each with a private bath)
that accommodate a maximum of six (6) anglers. The most distant
pools on the ranch are only minutes from the new lodge, making
the dawn-to-dark sea trout fishing extremely comfortable. Guests
will return for a fine lunch each day and a truly traditional
mid-day siesta, before returning to the usually spectacular evening
fishing on the Rio Grande and Rio Menendez.
